COVIDYSTOPIA- April 20, 2022 AD (Somewhere in a new world city, around noon. A weekday.)
G heard him yell and ran across to his home workstation. “I got certified as Class A”, J said. She didn't know whether to be happy or sad as she held his shoulder.
The world had changed after 2021. People became classified worldwide as Class A, Class B or Class C. The Class As and Class Bs were both categories for vaccinated people. Class As developed immunity after vaccination whereas Class Bs did not. Class Cs were the unvaccinated. Cities developed invisible barriers where the three Classes were slowly separated over time. Only the Class As were allowed to have jobs which required freedom of movement.
G and J had saved up and had finally got their vaccines the previous week. G had found out that she was a Class B earlier today.
